Shaktimaan is a Hindi film which was released in 2005. The film stars Ajay Devgan, the protagonist, and Tusshar Kapoor, who helps in bringing in the money The movie is directed by Prem Raj Kapoor. The film was produced by Ekta Kapoor and Rajesh Tiger under their banner Balaji Telefilms and Excel Entertainment respectively. This movie revolves around Shaktimaan, an Indian superhero of mythological origin who fights against black magic and evil forces of nature like drought and floods. The plot of the movie is about Ajay, who is considered as an ordinary human being by ordinary people around him. As he comes across a mystical stone which possesses supernatural powers, he acquires the power to become the superhero Shaktimaan. After gaining these superpowers he starts working as a reporter for "Republic" newspaper. He starts helping people with his newly acquired abilities. As time passes on, he realizes that Kali (the head of evil forces) has taken over his life and now it is very important for him to destroy all evil forces and to bring justice back in this world. Ajay and Shaktimaan succeed in their quests and become a symbol of hope for all. Ajay Devgan, who plays the lead role in the film, was offered to star in the film only after the producers saw him in "Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge". He received an offer for "Shaktimaan" which he gladly accepted because he was still waiting to play a negative character in a movie for the first time. He received a hefty payment of Rs.8.5 million for his role in the movie and around Rs.15 million as a part of the promotion and foreign distributors' rights. Tusshar Kapoor was initially supposed to play Ajay Devgan's role but declined because of his busy schedule with "Aakrosh" (2004). For, Ajay Devgan, the film was his first for changing from a negative character to a positive one. The film had musical score by Vishal Bhardwaj and lyrics by Swanand Kirkire, Naqsh Lyallpuri and Anvita Dutt Guptan. The movie was also located in London. The movie was made with budget of Rs.28 million. The music for this film has been composed by Vishal Bhardwaj, who has earlier worked with Ekta Kapoor in TV series "Kabhii Sautan Kabhii Sahelii".
